We understand that Boardwalk Empire, which is due for a second season very soon, is on the inspiration list for more than a few designers this season. But we’d like to contest the idea that the HBO series should take all the credit. We’d suggest that the true originator of this trend is none other than Tobagan former-Man United and Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke. And you’ll only have to go back to any of his Sky Sports appearances to see why.
Yes, the cast of BE do a great line in saddle shoes but can they match Yorke’s knack for suits that look like they’ve been dipped in polish, eye-catching ties and dazzling array of mismatched patterns? We thought not. Don’t let them steal the style icon title that’s rightfully yours Dwight. Failing that, he can always aim for a cameo in season three.
